Looking out our kitchen window the other day, I spied this bird. The picture isn't great because it through the window. I have no idea what kind of bird it is--anyone have any ideas?Sunday night was a big night around here. Gracen had 2 of her friends spend the night. It was her birthday mini sleep over!
Hot dogs, chips and brownies were eaten, Barbie and the Three Musketeers was watched, and giggles aplenty were heard!
While the girls played on Monday, I got busy on Gracen's birthday cake for her party on Wednesday.
I honestly thought I would cry--well, actually, I did--when I turned the cake out of the pan only to have an entire corner remain in the pan. I didn't have another cake mix so I attempted to make the best out of the cake that remained.
The best part is Gracen loves the cake and, even though we may have to buy a few cupcakes to make sure there is enough cake for everyone, it is finished!!
I still can't believe that my girl will be 11 on Thursday! Recently, I told her that she was simply not going to be allowed to turn 11--that she would have to stay 10 forever. She told me that that wouldn't work because she couldn't go to college if she didn't get older and (this was my personal favorite), "I have to get older--someone has to take care of you and Daddy when you get old."
Yeah, thanks...
I have been meaning to post that we tried this lasagna recipe one night several weeks ago. It was very good and because there aren't so many cheeses, it was fairly affordable. I made it in 2 smaller pans and froze one.

Cake turned out fine. During the Christmas holidays, we had family over for supper. Christopher let the girls help themselves to dessert - which was on the kitchen table.... along with a cake I had cooling before I iced it. Here they both walk in with 2 HUGE pieces of cake! My cake didn't turn out as well as yours ;)
