It's A Dog's Life

The personalities of dogs have always amazed me. Through our nearly 16 years of marriage, we have had several dogs. We had some that lasted longer than others. While we have loved all of them, some got the unconditional love and others got the love because of the commitment we had made to care for them. (We are easily driven by guilt!)

Molly, our Bichon, is an incredibly sweet dog. She is also one of the most demanding little dogs I have ever seen! She's ready to eat? She will bark and stamp, yes indeed stamp, her front paws until the door is opened to her food bowl. No water in the water bowls? She lays as flat as she possibly can near the bowl and whines until the bowl is filled.

She also has routines. Each morning she comes out from under our bed (where she sleeps) and goes into her crate for a morning nap. Once Gracen has finished breakfast, she begins herding her and barking. That is code for "it's time to see the hamsters". Gracen goes in and holds Merry and Pippen for Molly to see. Then it is time for another morning nap which is in the reading chair in the school room.

The rest of her day consists of no less than 3 more naps--each held in its own spot.

Oh, to have her life for one day!!
