You know, I have learned never to say never. At least mostly. As if to prove this point, Puff the duck entered our lives.
Puff was supposed to go to a friend's farm
Puff stayed--because when you see a kid as happy as the one above, it's hard to stick to your guns (assuming, of course, that the happiness inducing activity isn't immoral or illegal!)

Puff gets fed--a lot. She also drinks a lot (we won't talk about how much I've been drinking since Puff has taken up residence)! Just a little joke for my mom whose $4 brought the joy of Puff into our lives.
Gracen gives her bits of leaves in addition to duck food.

Yep, they were talking. About serious matters apparently.
My backyard used to be a tranquil place. I would sit outside and watch the birds at the feeders.
Now, I go out and see my daughter, her purple bike, Biscuit the golden retriever, and Puff duck.
Gracen rides, Puff follows Gracen, Biscuit follows Puff. Biscuit usually has her tennis ball in her mouth. Biscuit has made no move to chase, chew on, or bother Puff. In fact, she acts downright scared of the duck.
She would make an interesting study for a vet psychiatrist.
And then, Gracen goes inside. And Puff begins a search akin to Are You My Mother?
She goes to the purple bike--no dice.
She goes to Biscuit--nope.
She comes to me and curls up beside my foot.
She's still going to the farm.
Soon, maybe not today or tomorrow, but soon.
My resolve is sure.

I'll believe it when I see it! By the time this girl is 18 there is no telling what kind of pet you will be the proud owners of! :-)
Wonderful pictures. BTW I can't get over how big Puff is! Wow! Puff grew fast!!! You are very sweet and kind to let her keep Puff. :-)
LOVED reading this and seeing the pictures. Puff is just too adorable with Gracen!
