True Confessions

When Jeff and I were first married, I apparently told him 3 things I didn't like. (For the record, I plead the 5th--or maybe memory loss.)

Those 3 things were: deli sandwiches, video games, and science fiction stuff.

I still maintain that there is a world of difference between a good deli sandwich and a plain ole' lunch meat between 2 slices of bread. Both serve a purpose but the enjoyment level is far greater (personally speaking, of course) when the sandwich is warm and soft with melted cheese and a dash of spicy mustard.

Before our marriage, I didn't know such a sandwich existed. I have been reformed.

Video games--still not a huge fan of most. But those that transport me back to my youth and trying to beat my sister, I do enjoy. Super Mario especially. On this point, I maintain that there is huge difference between the video games of the 80s and the Wii games of today.

Now, science fiction stuff...I really didn't like it then and, honestly, am still not a huge fan of science fiction books.

However, I made a fatal mistake. I put the new (last couple of years anyway) Star Trek movie on the Netflix queue.

My defense? I caved to the pressure of those who said that it was a good movie. But in reality I was sure that I wouldn't like it.

It was an enjoyable movie. And ever since, Jeff and I have stayed up way too late watching the original Star Trek episodes online.

We've just begun season 2.

And I have actually enjoyed it.

Somewhere Jeff is reading this, laughing, and saying "I told you so."

Beam me up, Scotty.
