Around The House

The tree isn't up just yet. But there are other signs of Christmas all around the house. Placemats and napkin rings made by my grandmother adorn the table.

Our Advent mantle is up. The Advent wreath I had in mind for the coffee table would have surely been knocked off by Biscuit's tail!
Christmas books stacked on the hearth. A Santa that has seen lots of love keeps watch. This Santa has been in my family literally as long as I can remember. I don't know where he came from though--maybe Grandma made him?
The nativity scene that, again, has been a part of every Christmas I can remember. I think this was among the first Christmas decorations that my parents ever bought when they were first married.
Gold ornaments, the Santa collection, and our favorite copy of Twas the Night Before Christmas.
Happy little gingerbread in the kitchen.
And, finally, not a Christmas decoration but something I had been wanting to try.

I had been collecting frames (some plain, some a little more ornate--some re-purposed and some found at the thrift store) for a bit. I wanted a way to display some of my favorite photos but didn't want to permanently frame them; my favorites change quite frequently!
I spray painted them all lightly with black (just enough to tie them together) and hung them on the wall. Then I used some of my scrapbook tape to hold the pictures onto the wall.

I still have enough room for a few more so I'm on the lookout!

Good job on the frames.

I love all of your decorations- how special to have items your Grandma made. My favorite of it all of course, is the gingerbread. So cute!

Love those frames too.
