Christmas Stuff

You know, I really don't intend to be such a sporadic blogger. I love writing--I guess I just don't make enough time during the day!

Christmas has been in full (read: busy) swing around here. Traditionally, we put up the tree Thanksgiving weekend but things just didn't work out for that this year.

Jeff stopped by one evening the week after Thanksgiving and picked out our tree by himself and brought it home. I was so grateful that he was willing to do that! We decked the tree with our traditional ornaments--many of which have been with us for years. I love pulling those ornaments out and remembering where they came from, who made them, or the story behind them.
Gracen and I had a girls' evening out. We enjoyed a pizza at Depalma's and then watched the Christmas parade in the cold. (Those of you who know me well know that it was extremely cold for me to be cold!) In fact, it was so cold that I paid way too much money for 2 cups of hot cocoa.

It was a very fun evening with my girl despite the cold.
This past weekend were the concerts of the Alabama Choir School. Gracen has been a member for 2 1/2 years and has enjoyed it so much. The concerts are always wonderful. The kids (and directors) work very hard.
Sunday night was our annual church concert. In years past, the choir has done a Lessons & Carols service. It has always been a beautiful service that primarily directs our hearts to the beauty and holiness of the season but also showcases the hard work and dedication of our choir and musicians.

However, this year we had a "Family Christmas" and people who may not ordinarily be involved in the music program (in addition to those who are) presented different musical selections. It was a lot of fun!

Gracen played "O Come All Ye Faithful" on the piano--and did a very good job (says her mom who may be just a little biased :) ). We had so many people participate. It was neat to see the uniqueness of our church family. It really was a special way to celebrate the season.

Gracen's school program is tomorrow evening and her school party is Friday afternoon. Then, school is finished until January 3!!

I hope your busy December is going well!
