Movies, Books and a Wish

I love watching a good movie. We just don't go to the theater very often. Netflix is our friend!

Last night Jeff and I watched The Soloist. Another really good one we recently watched was Gran Torino. Both are good stories and will probably make you think! As a family we enjoyed The Long, Long Trailer with Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz. Gracen really loves Lucy!

After getting Bilbo through the dragon fight and back to his hobbit hole in The Hobbit, Gracen and I have begun reading The Secret Garden. I hope she loves it as much as I do. I hadn't read it until the last year or so and absolutely love the story. It appeals to the story lover and the wanna be gardener in me!

She is also reading Rudyard Kipling's Just So Stories. I constantly hear, "Mom, listen to this!" along with lots of laughter.

She's also working on Five Little Peppers and How They Grew by Margaret Sidney. This is the first book in the series that was published from 1881 to 1916. Gracen told me the other day that she needs to have a dictionary connected to the book! Some of the language is less modern. She has learned that the answer to "what does this mean?" will usually be "look it up"!

This is most definitely going on my wish list!! I have lots of Gracen's drawings and things that I want to keep safely but they are too big for my scrapbook albums. (Jeff, if you are reading, the toile patterns are really pretty!)

Please leave a comment if you have a good movie or book title--or share what's on your wish list!!

My dear grandma used to read "The Five Little Peppers" to us when we spent the night at her house. Such precious memories. Love that Gracen in reading it.
