Why does blogger have squares instead of letters on some things??
My sweet husband recently attended a class about managing his diabetes. He did what comes very naturally to him when sitting in a class and the instructor is
Where did we get the idea that anything in this life is fair?
And, just being a Mama for a minute--can we please find someone else to blame?!
Why does our fuzzy little Molly dog insist on barking every. single. day. at the cat that walks across our front porch every. single. day.? The cat struts by and Molly, who can be in another room, will come flying to stand in the front window and bark to high heaven.
I swear the cat grins.
Why is it physically impossible for my child to make her bed without leaving the sheet and blanket rolled up in a lumpy mess underneath the comforter? It might take all of 5 more seconds to pull the sheet and blanket up.
I try to be grateful that she's "making" the bed but the lumps play some serious havoc with my OCD tendencies.
While watching a movie last night, The Color of Magic, one of the characters is a tourist. He tells another character that he wants to see all his particular land has to offer. He has heard about "the wizard university, the tavern brawls and the whore pits and he wants to see it all!"
(Disclaimer: I didn't know what this movie was when we got it from Netflix and that was the only thing so far that was questionable.)
My girl looks at me and says, "I think I heard that word in a sermon." And, yes, actually, I think she did--from the series on Hosea.
Again, I was thankful. We discussed several things (with regard to Hosea) that probably would have been much more uncomfortable had we had to deal with it outside the context of a sermon.
And, within the sermon, she learned about God's grace and love.
I seriously began to question all the money I spent on the set of why boys and girls are different books that go from that very simple concept all the way through talking with your child about sex.
Surely, our pastor will go through Song of Solomon soon!
Seriously, I have found it much easier to have those conversations within the context of church life and sermons instead of wondering when the time is right. Sometimes, I need to be "forced" into having those conversations.
I'm off to peel Molly off the front window...

Very funny, Dana! I'm making sure Tim reads this one. Maybe we can all request Song of Solomon (I'm hoping he'll wait a few more years when Laurian might be listening...or she might be too embarassed to show her face at church). Thanks for sharing!
