Total Stream of Consciousness...

This week has been tough. No special reason--just long and tough.

Could have something to do with the fact that I am out of my leg again. This time there is no broken areas, it just hurts. Somehow it is a little easier to take when you look and see broken skin!

I'm trying to hold out for the miracle of the government health care when all of my troubles will be fixed and it will be (to quote a news article I read earlier in the week)"just like Christmas". If this is a gift, it's like a bad sweater with no sales receipt.

Puff the Duck still lives here. She It (how do you tell the gender of a duck) peeps all. the. time. Gracen is still over the moon with joy at having a pet duck. A very wise friend commented on the Puff post that she believed everything except the last line about sending Puff to a farm.

She may be right. Puff has won over the neighbors. I think they are just hoping for free duck eggs if it's a female. They probably taste, you guessed it, just like chicken eggs.

My sweet music loving husband created a playlist on my Ipod for my trip to Arkansas. I listened to the 2 books he was so kind to download for me (Same Kind of Different As Me and The Scarlet Letter) and forgot about the playlist!

So I have been listening to it this week. The guy has good (and very eclectic) taste in music. There has only been one song that I just didn't like.

Bless his heart, music is in many ways the very essence of who he is. He knows not only song titles, the writer of the lyrics, and composers of the music but also who played back up and when the album was released. He really listens to music, giving words and the musical construction time and value.

Me? Well, not so much. The height of my musical "education" was '80's popular rock. Yep, we all know how good some of that was! There are many songs that I know all the words to and still never really listened to what they were saying let alone the musical construction! I don't remember (generally) names of song or people who sang them. If Jeff wants to know if I know a song, he has learned not to say the title but rather find someplace to play it.

Needless to say, my lack of anything remotely resembling musical talent was not known to him before our marriage. In my defense, the fact that he picked out the music and the musicians for our wedding probably should have been a clue.

On the school agenda for today was watching a little Schoolhouse Rock--specifically some of the history/government procedure ones like this and this.

I had to laugh...

Seriously, sometimes I can let my mind get the better of me with the "what ifs" and "whys". It is much, much better than it used to be though.

Gracen has been working on memorizing Psalm 56 and I read it the other day in the English Standard Version. Verse 8 jumped out at me: "You have kept count of my tossings, put my tears in your bottle..."

I don't know what made her decide to memorize that particular Psalm but am very glad that she did!
